These are some of the most important court cases which deserve your study. Everyone should read the entirety of each case and not rely on other peoples' analyses of these cases. The analysis given for each case on this page is a suggested analysis so that the reader has the opportunity to consider and then accept or reject points which might not otherwise occur to the reader. The reader should explore other analyses of the cases and likewise accept or reject those points. Most people have vague notions, gut feelings or second-hand knowledge of these cases; often, newspaper/media accounts of court cases reflect the bias of the editors or ignorance of the reporters and lead the public astray from the true import of the cases. The reader should instead form his opinion and develope a bedrock understanding of the principles involved. Someday the reader will be tested on this material!
